5 Exciting Pasta Recipes to try at home

Who doesn’t enjoy a delicious pasta dish every now and again? Do you have any favorite pasta recipes? From spaghetti to macaroni, pasta has quickly become part of the staple foods in Nigeria. They weren’t as mainstream in the 90s when rice – in any format (rice and stew, jollof rice or fried rice) – generally topped the cuisine charts for many households. The case is different today, however, as the consumption of pasta continues to rise, with more and more flour mill factories setting up shop to produce enough to meet local demand.

In this post, we’re going to be sharing five exciting pasta recipes you can prepare easily that will make you fall in love with pasta even more.

  1. The Jollof SpaghettiHomemade Jollof Spaghetti Recipe

This recipe is probably more common, as it is prepared just about the same way you’d prepare jollof rice. The ingredients you need to prepare the jollof spaghetti include ground pepper, fresh (chopped) tomatoes, tomato paste, Mamador Pure Vegetable Oil, dried garlic, curry, thyme and some scent leaves to spice things up. As we all know, getting the right ingredients together is only half of the process. The other half is the method of preparation. Have a look at our cookbook to see how it all comes together to produce that exciting spaghetti jollof we’ve all come to enjoy.

  1. The Spaghetti Bolognese SauceHomemade Spaghetti Bolognese Sauce

The Spaghetti Bolognese sauce recipe is as Italian as pasta recipes get, seeing as it originated from there. It is called Ragù alla bolognese in Italy. To make bolognese, you’re going to need at least 500g of meat, fresh tomatoes (blended), tomato paste, onions, garlic, thyme, curry, carrots (diced), Mamador Pure Vegetable Oil and some mushrooms (optional). The method of preparation is outlined in our cookbook.

  1. The Chicken and Veggies Stir-Fry Pasta RecipeChicken and Veggies Stir Fry Recipe

Now, this dish looks quite like the jollof recipe but with an added twist – the addition of shredded chicken (cooked) and diced tomatoes, green pepper, red pepper, carrot, spring onions, garlic, and ginger. This meal can be ready in under 30 minutes once you get all your ingredients ready. We laid out the method of preparation of the chicken and veggies stir-fry pasta recipe in our cookbook.

  1. The Garlic Prawn Pasta RecipeGarlic Prawn Pasta Recipe

This delicious recipe is especially great for when you want to go meat free for a while but needs to eat a meal that is enjoyable and nutritious, and easy to prepare. Now prawns are famous for being rich in Omega-3 acids, vitamins, fish oil and other nutrients that are great for keeping the heart healthy. To prepare the Garlic Prawn Pasta, get some linguine pasta (but any other kind will do just as well), Prawns (as many as desired), Mamador Vegetable Oil, lemon juice, garlic, and seasoning. See how it’s prepared.

  1. Chicken Tomato Penne RecipeChicken Tomato Penne Pasta Recipe

The Penne Pasta is a hollow, cylindrical type of pasta that cooks just as quickly as the spaghetti or any other kind you’re used to. The chicken tomato penne recipe is prepared in much the same way as the jollof recipe, save for the type of pasta used. The other ingredients required include fresh tomatoes (diced), garlic, Mamador Pure Vegetable Oil, Chicken breasts (cut into bits), onions and seasoning cubes. When cooking the Penne Pasta, you have to ensure that it’s a bit firm and not overcooked, to enjoy it properly. About 11-15 minutes is ideal. See the preparation method.
