We’ve been bringing you posts on several recipes and relevant info on benefits of and how to make certain meals. In this post, we want to give a general overview of the basic things you need to set up your own kitchen.

For so many people, how to set up a kitchen may not be something that they readily think about. That’s often because many people already are growing up and living in homes with an already set up kitchen – until they have to move into a new apartment, of course.

So, whether you’re moving to a new apartment (maybe you recently got married or are moving to a new city) or want to remodel your home, setting up your kitchen is something you’re going to have to deal with eventually. To get you started, we have outlined the essential things every kitchen needs.

  1. Pots and Pans: Pots and pans seem like rather obvious choices, we know, but they deserve a mention, nonetheless. Here are examples of pots and pans you should be looking to purchase and stock your kitchen with:
  • Saute pan (with cover) – for multipurpose use like frying, steaming and boiling meat.
  • Baking pan
  • Dutch oven – to serve as your big pot for cooking.
  • A set of aluminum pots – with varying sizes

  1. Knives:
  2. Preparation tools: These are those handy tools that make the cooking process easier. Examples include:
  • Measuring cups and spoon
  • Sieve
  • Mixing bowl
  • Cutting/Chopping Board
  • Grater
  • Spatula
  • Whisk
  • Can opener
  • Wood spoon

  1. Linens:
  • Towels
  • Pot holders

Well, now that we’ve sort of furnished you with a starter pack for setting up your new kitchen, it is important to acknowledge that the list is by no means exhaustive. There’s always some other utensil you can add, depending on your taste. But this list is a good place to start, as they cover the essentials.
